DataOne schemes allow subscribers to enjoy unlimited uploading and downloading of data

GUNTUR: The Guntur Telecom District is marching ahead, providing the latest telecom products and is making inroads into smaller towns also with high-speed Internet, and will promote `Global Cyber Security' for one year.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Guntur General Manger MSR Sarma told The Hindu on Tuesday that average teledensity in the district was 4.22, while it was only 3.26 in the rural areas. DataOne services were being rolled out in Tenali and 20 out of 76 old MARR exchanges had been replaced with WLL towers, he said. The remaining 50 would also be replaced soon, he added.

The CellOne GSM mobile service had 21,000 subscribers and the existing 71 towers would be increased to 109 in the district in course of time to improve coverage, he added. The BSNL had also introduced two new plans for DataOne - Home 900 plus and Home 900, where the subscribers can enjoy unlimited downloading and uploading of data.

The BSNL also provides free phones at places like hospitals as part of its corporate social responsibility, he added. The International Telecom Union was formed on May 17 in 1865.
