Rupee slides further
MUMBAI:
The rupee slide gathered further momentum on Tuesday, losing yet another seven paise to close at 45.50/52 a dollar, pulled down by sustained dollar demand on the back of a rebounding dollar overseas with the outlook remaining uncertain due to a slowdown in foreign fund inflows.
In slightly nervous trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee resumed weak at 45.52/54 against the overnight five month closing low of 45.44/45 and tumbled to the day's low of 45.64/65 on a virtual scramble for dollars amid strained supplies. PTI
