KANNUR: A two-and-a-half-month-old child belonging to a nomadic group was trampled to death by miscreants at Cherupuzha under the Peringome police station limits here late Monday night. The police said the child was identified as Deepa, daughter of a couple belonging to a wandering group from Mysore. The miscreants attacked the nomadic people staying close to the Cherupuzha river late night. The attack was carried out when the nomadic people resisted the miscreants' bid to molest a young woman member of the group. The police said the child was found dead in the morning. The nomads had been staying at Cherupuzha for nearly a month and engaged in fishing to make a living. The police said that investigation was on to identify the miscreants.
