KANNUR: Officers and employees of the North Malabar Gramin Bank and the South Malabar Gramin Bank will participate in the one-day strike on Friday called by the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees' Association. All Kerala Gramin Bank Staff Federation general secretary C.C. Premaraj said in a press release here on Tuesday that the national strike in gramin banks was called to press their demands such as the setting up State-level Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) under the National Rural Bank of India by de-linking the RRBs from sponsor banks, revision of financial package and rights to RRB staff as per bipartite settlement, including the Eighth bipartite settlement singed on June 2, 2005, parity of superannuation benefits, business linked manpower planning, regular promotion from all cadres, withdrawal of all deputed officers except chairman from the RRBs and formation of an apex-level negotiating forum.
