Dravid to lead in charity match

P. Subramanyam

London: An International XI to be led by Rahul Dravid and featuring Brian Lara, Muttiah Muralitharan and Mahendra Dhoni will take on the visiting Pakistan cricket team at The Oval in July for a charity game, it was announced on Tuesday morning.

Surrey will host a Twenty20 game on July 10 to raise funds for victims of the October 2005 earthquake disaster in Pakistan. England all-rounder, Andrew Flintoff will make a non-playing appearance on this occasion.

Surrey's chief executive, Mr. Paul Sheldon said, "raising money to help victims of the earthquake is important to us. It was a terrible tragedy but I'd like to think that this match might go some way in helping to speed up the recovery process. We were successful in raising a very significant sum last year to help the victims of the tsunami, so it would be great, if we can do the same again this year," he concluded.
