KARIMNAGAR: Inspired by social service rendered by the Lions Charitable Eye Hospital in Rekurthi on the outskirts of Karimnagar, NRIs of Karimnagar district, who have formed into a group in the USA under the leadership of Patharapu Srinivas, have collected $ 3,000 for donation to the eye hospital. In a press release here on Tuesday, Lions eye hospital chairman Bhaskar Madhekar said that the NRIs had donated the amount for conducting eye camps in their native villages of the district. The special camps would be held from June 1. One more NRI had also come forward to donate money for medical camp in his native village in Julapalli mandal. The Lions Club of Karimnagar has collected a pair of eyes donated by an orphan, K. Buchirajam (70), who passed away on Monday night at the Veerabramendra old-age home in Housing board colony in the town.
