Major death traps

HYDERABAD : Cyberabad, the area that encircles Hyderabad, has been identified as most accident-prone area in the State. With several national highways leading to Cyberabad, it reported 867 deaths in road accidents in 2004.

In the first three months of this year, there were 232 casualties.

Four national highways where the accident rate is high are (in the descending order): Vijayawada-Hyderabad, Ramagundam-Hyderabad Rajiv Rahadari, Kurnool-Hyderabad and Mumbai-Hyderabad.

Speeding and driving from midnight till 4 a.m., the time when the human body craves for rest, are the two main causes of road accidents.
