JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has submitted to the Centre a proposal for launching a scheme worth Rs. 18.48 crores for relocation of 15 villages around the world-famous Sariska wildlife sanctuary in a bid to ease the population pressure in the reserved forest area. The State is still awaiting the Centre's response to the proposal in the wake of disappearance of tigers in the sanctuary. State Forest and Environment Minister Laxminarain Dave said here on Tuesday that the Centre had put the condition of net present value for mutation of 222.67 hectares of land in Barod Rund village identified by the State Government for rehabilitation of displaced people. "This will lead to an additional burden of Rs. 10 crores on the State Government,'' Mr. Dave said, while terming the Centre's move as unreasonable. Mr. Dave said the Central Government had agreed in principle with a proposed project for rehabilitation of tigers in the sanctuary by bringing them from elsewhere, but had not released the financial and administrative sanction.
