VIJAYAWADA: Etta Govardhan alias Gogulamma, a 45-year-old woman was found lying in an unconscious state with a head injury at Sitammavari Padalu Centre in the early hours of Tuesday. The police took her into custody and seized 525 gms gold worth Rs. 4.5 lakhs from her possession. The police said that Gogulamma, who was involved in a few robberies, was heading to Chirala to meet her sister and sell the stolen gold there.
Case registered
A resident of Payakapuram, she came to the centre to take an early morning bus at Pandit Nehru Bus Station. Gogulamma might have fallen while going to the river to answer nature's call and suffered the head injury, they said. She was treated at the Government General Hospital. The Krishnalanka police registered a case. Assistant Commissioner of Police M. Satyanarayana said that Gogulamma was involved in various offences .
Killed in accident
M. Naveen, who belongs to Kankipadu, died in a road accident at Kanakadurga Varadhi traffic signals near Krishnalanka on Monday. The police said Naveen, who was riding a motorcycle, jumped the signals and crashed into a cement-laden lorry.
