Major reshuffle of bureaucrats in Tamil Nadu

Shaktikanta Das is new Industries Secretary; V.K. Subburaj replaces Sheela Rani Chunkath as Health Secretary

CHENNAI: As expected, the Tamil Nadu Government on Tuesday night effected a major reshuffle of bureaucrats at the Secretary level, posting new Industries Secretary, Health Secretary and Public Secretary.

Shaktikanta Das is the new Industries Secretary in place of D. Rajendran. V.K. Subburaj replaces Sheela Rani Chunkath as the Health Secretary and Jothi Jagarajan is the new Public Secretary in place of Sanwat Ram, posted as Commissioner of Tourism.

Following are the other postings: Sheela Balakrishnan, formerly Secretary- 1 to the then Chief Minister, is posted as Special Commissioner for Disciplinary Proceedings, Salem, vice C. Umashankar.

P. Selvam, Secretary, Prohibition and Excise Department is posted as Secretary, Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes, vice A. Nagarajan.

S. Malathi, Special Commissioner of Economics and Statistics, is posted as Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, vice T. Prabhakara Rao.

S. Machendranathan, Special Secretary, Food, Cooperation and Consumer Protection Department, is posted as Secretary in the same Department vice T.R. Srinivasan.

S. Rajarethinam, Secretary, Commercial Taxes and Registration Department, is posted as Secretary, Public Works Department, vice N.S.Palaniappan posted as Secretary, Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme.

M. Devaraj, Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Most backward Classes and De-notified Communities, is posted as Commercial Taxes and Registration Department.

P. Sivakami, Commissioner for Disciplinary Proceedings, Chennai, is posted as Commissioner of Employment and Training vice M. Kutralingam.

K. Ganesan, Commissioner of Agricultural Marketing, is posted as Secretary, Prohibition and Excise Department vice Selvam.

K. Allaudin, Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency, is posted as Secretary, Highways Department vice P. Rama Mohana Rao posted as Commissioner of Land Reforms vice Niranjan Mardi posted as Commissioner of Municipal Administration vice Ambuj Sharma.

Jagmohan Singh Raju, Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd, is posted as Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce vice Rameshram Mishra holding additional charge.

K.N. Venkataramanan, formerly Secretary - II to the then Chief Minister, is posted as Commissioner for Disciplinary Proceedings, Thanjavur, vice V. Murthi.

V. Irai Anbu, Commissioner for Disciplinary Proceedings, Madurai, is posted as Secretary, Information and Tourism Department vice V. Varaprasada Rao.

Sandeep Saxena, on reversion to State cadre, is posted as Commissioner of Sugar, vice R.S. Kanna, posted as Joint Secretary, Revenue department, in the place of V. Kannuchamy.

S. Ayyar, Managing Director, TN State Marketing Corporation, is posted as Commissioner for Disciplinary Proceedings, Tirunelveli, vice V.Irai Anbu.

P. Shanmugam, Secretary, Transport Department and Transport Commissioner in charge, is posted as Commissioner for Disciplinary Proceedings, Ramanathapuram.

S. Swarna, formerly Deputy Secretary and Special Officer, Chief Minister's Special Cell, is posted as Deputy Secretary, Agriculture Department, vice R. Rajagopal.

The services of R. Balakrishnan, Chairman, TIIC, are placed at the disposal of the Tamil Nadu Magnesite Limited, Salem, for appointment as its Managing Director, vice Dheeraj Kumar.

The services of A. Elangovan, Secretary, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi, are placed at the disposal of the TN Energy Development Agency, for appointment as its Chairman and Managing Director.

The services of Swaran Singh, Managing Director, TN Textbook Corporation, are placed at the disposal of TWAD Board, for appointment as its Managing Director, vice S. Karuthiah Pandian.

The services of Shiv Das Meena, Joint Commissioner, Corporation of Chennai, are placed at the disposal of the Chennai Metrowater Board for appointment as its Managing Director, vice V. Thangavelu.

The services of V. Murthy, Commissioner for Disciplinary Proceedings, Thanjavur, are placed at the disposal of the TN Newsprint and Papers Limited for appointment as its Managing Director, vice S. Ramasundaram, holding additional charge.

The services of S. Karuthiah Pandian, are placed at the disposal of the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation for appointment as its Managing Director, vice S. Vijayakumar.
