Perdita Huston award for Prajwala founder

HYDERABAD: Founder-general secretary of Prajwala, a city-based non-governmental organisation, Sunita Krishnan has been named as the winner of the 2006 edition of the international Perdita Huston Human Rights award.

According to a press release, Ms. Krishnan was selected for the award in recognition of her campaign against human trafficking in India. She will receive the award in Washington DC on May 30.

The Huston award was instituted by the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area to celebrate Perdita Huston, an author and journalist who dedicated her life to advocate women's rights.
