ABVP activists stage dharna

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a dharna in front of the EAMCET office at JNTU-Kukatpally demanding an inquiry into the alleged inferior quality of OMR sheets and scanners, which they fear would alter the fate of students.

They said it was more important for the students to get genuine rather than faulty results at the earliest.

Venkat Reddy, ABVP technical cell convenor, said that the scanners were not reading the OMR sheets accurately and they were ready to prove if an inquiry was conducted. He wanted the EAMCET Committee to stop the release of results on May 18 since the results had a great impact on the lives of students.

A statement of the ABVP later claimed that the JNTU Vice-Chancellor and EAMCET Committee Chairman K. Rajagopal had promised to constitute a committee to look into the charges. Speaking to The Hindu , Prof. Rajagopal said that they were making all efforts to release the results on May 18 as planned earlier.
