Plea to extend RTC city, suburban limits
Staff Reporter
Hyderabad:
The BJP Ranga Reddy district unit has sought expansion of the city and suburban limits of the APSRTC in view of the tremendous growth in and around the State capital.
The present suburban areas should be brought under the city limits and suburban boundaries extended up to 50 km.
N. Malla Reddy, president, and T. Anjankumar, secretary, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the RTC had fixed the limits of city and suburban boundaries 26 years ago and since then there was a lot of change.
A large number of engineering colleges as also several projects like Apparel Park and international airport had come up on the city outskirts. RTC buses were the only mode of travel for students, employees and farmers, Mr. Reddy said.
He urged the authorities to extend the limits of its city services to cover the present suburban areas. He wanted far-flung areas like Toopran, Bhongir, Choutupal, Yacharam, Shadnagar and Chevella to be brought under the suburban limits of the RTC. This would greatly facilitate the travelling public who depended on RTC buses, Mr. Reddy said.
