Information on smuggling

Kochi: The public can give information on smuggling or illegal activities to the Commissionerate, said P. Ayyam Perumal, Commissioner of Customs Preventive. Addressing a press meet in Kochi after taking charge, he said that informers would be entitled to 20 per cent of the evaded duty amount as reward. The informer's secrecy will be strictly maintained, he said. Information can be passed on at telephone numbers: 0484- 2397613, 2391352, 2378155 and 2427355. — Staff Reporter

Succumbs to burns

KOCHI: A 31-year-old woman, Bilu, who was admitted to a private hospital here on Monday with serious burns died on Tuesday. Wife of Murukeshan, Bilu, hailing from Mulanthuruthy, was being treated at Medical Trust Hospital. She has a two-and-a-half-year-old son. The local police had arrested her mother-in-law on Monday. — Staff Reporter
