Girl succumbs to burns

HYDERABAD: Reportedly depressed after securing less marks in the recently announced seventh class results, a girl, who attempted suicide by setting herself ablaze at her house at Sitaphalmandi on Monday night, died while undergoing treatment at the Gandhi hospital early on Tuesday.

The police said G. Vimala, 13, daughter of Suresh, was expecting more than 500 marks, but she secured only 323 marks. Since then she was in a state of depression. At around 8 p.m., she poured kerosene on herself and set afire. After hearing her screams, the girl's parents shifted her to Gandhi Hospital where she died on Tuesday morning.
