NEW DELHI: Hailing the passage of the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Bill, 2006, in Parliament, a delegation of traders called on Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken on Tuesday and said once it was notified it would give major relief to people affected by demolitions and sealing in the city over the past few months. The delegation of traders led by Praveen Khandelwal met Mr. Maken in his office at Nirman Bhavan and complimented him for having hammered out a solution. They also thanked Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy for taking a keen interest in the problems faced by the people of the Capital. Stating that the Bill did not address all issues, the delegation said that it was high time that the new Master Plan for Delhi-2021 was finalised and notified. In addition, they said the Tejinder Khanna Committee had also come out with its recommendations and the Government should take action on it at the earliest. Assuring the traders that the Union Government was aware of the ground realities and was working to sort out the mess, Mr. Maken said the process for finalising the Master Plan had been speeded up. He said the Government would study the Khanna panel report and finalise what was to be incorporated in the policy over the next few months.
