THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Department of Culture of Andhra Pradesh Government will conduct a workshop on Kuchipudi here from May 20 to 31 in association with Sathyaanjali Academy of Kuchipudi. Academy director Anupama Mohan told reporters here on Wednesday that a series of three workshops has been planned in the State to teach the dance form to students who cannot afford to attend regular courses. The workshop, to be held at Noopura Dance School at Poojapura, is the second in the series. The first workshop was held in Kochi and the third would be held in Kozhikode. Sathyaanjali, which has been recognised by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, has branches in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Malappuram. The academy conducts training classes for certificate and diploma courses and at least two workshops a year on Kuchipudi. The academy has been dedicated to the authentic style of Kuchipudi and is trying to revive its lost glory and original style. A certificate of association from the Culture Department of Andhra Pradesh will be awarded to the participants on completion of the workshop. A certificate course is also offered in continuation of the workshop where priority will be given to participants of the workshop. Ms. Mohan said diploma and degree courses in Kuchipudi may also be offered in Kochi soon.
