Madras city gave a warm reception on May 17 to Acharya Vinobha Bhave, now on a walking tour of Tamil Nad, when he entered the city limits at 7 in the morning on the Ayyanavaram-Villivakkam side. He was coming to Perambur from Ambattur where he was camping on May 16. The entire route in the city limits up to Unity House in Perambur, where Vinobaji is staying, was decorated with toranams, and the people who had gathered on the roadside greeted him reverently with a bow. At the Railway Carriage Works in Perambur a bhajan party joined the march. Acharya Bhave reached Unity House at 8 a.m. and was cheered by the crowd that had gathered there.
