23 panchayats set to go e-way

Staff Reporter

KURNOOL: Twenty-three out of 36 major panchayats in Kurnool district will go online soon under ePachayat programme. A one-day workshop was conducted here on Wednesday on the subject for sarpanches, pachayat secretaries and extension officers of the villages.

Joint Collector Ramsankar Naik, Deputy Director General of NICNET Prabhu, NICNET Technical Director D.M. Rao, District Infomatic Officer Noorjahan and others attended the programme.

In the first phase, the panchayat will computerize the data relating to deaths, births, house-tax, trade licences, all types of pensions, works monitoring and accounting. The pachayats would revise the data on-line when required besides offering certain services like issuing of birth and death certificates to public. The panchayats were developing portals to display information on panchayats, which could be viewed by any citizen.
