WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT: District Collector K.S. Srinivas interacting with students participating in a State-level summer coaching in games and athletics after inaugurating the programme in Kannur on Wednesday.
KANNUR: A State-level coaching camp in games and athletics items under the auspices of the Education Department has been under way here. Though the coaching programme began here on May 15, the camp was formally inaugurated at a function at Kannur Government Higher Secondary School on Wednesday. As many as 472 students, including 210 girls, are participating in the programme. District Collector K.S. Srinivas inaugurated the programme. Education Department Joint Director K. Sasidharan presided over the function. Municipal chairman K. Upendran delivered the keynote address. State School Sports Organiser K. Raveendran was also present on the occasion. Camp co-ordinator C.H. Valsan said that coaching was being held at the Police Maidan, Collectorate Maidan, Municipal Stadium and other school grounds from 6 a.m. to 8-30 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6-30 p.m. every day.
