BANGALORE: The 18th National hockey championship for sub-junior girls was off to a farcical start with West Bengal playing spoilsport in its match against Delhi. Down 0-3 at the half time, the West Bengal coach threatened to call off her players on an earlier disputed goal. After much coaxing and even warning the team returned to the arena and ten of its players stood at the centre line with the goal-keeper alone under the bar. Delhi shot in a slew of goals until the coach was warned that the team would be expelled from the tournament and the players would have to vacate their rooms and head back to Kolkata. Even then the players went through the rest of the game pretending to make a match of it. For the record, Delhi won 23-0.
