Rupee gains 32 paise

MUMBAI: The rupee made a sharp turnaround against the U.S. currency after the dollar's overnight slide against major global rivals triggered a smart rally of 32 paise to close at Rs. 45.19/20 a dollar on Wednesday.

In an upbeat mood at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee resumed firm at 45.39/41 and surged to 45.16/17, before settling at 45.19/20 and arrested a two-day plunge. The domestic unit slumped by 46 paise in the last two sessions due to sustained heavy dollar demand. — PTI
