Giving kids an opportunity to see history

Mandira Nayar

NEW DELHI: This Thursday is a special day for museums across the world. And to celebrate the day -- World Museum Day -- the Confederation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations of India together with the Institute of Archaeology and the Archaeological Survey of India have decided to get a whole new generation involved.

Holding a drawing and painting competition for children, this is an attempt to reach out to them and get them interested in museums. The children will be first shown the museum inside the historic Red Fort here and then given a lecture about the articles and the objects in the museum. These children will then be asked to copy their objects in "their" way on paper. The best painting will be given a prize.
