Coast Guard station to be inaugurated on May 25

Kozhikode: Coast Guard Director General Prabhakaran Paleri will inaugurate the Coast Guard Station at Beypore on May 25.

The station will be the 21st one in the country, and the third in Kerala the other two being Kochi and Vizhinjam. Office building, jetty and two boats for patrolling and rescue operations are being provided at Beypore.

Ships `Kasturbha Gandhi and `Durgabai Deshmukh' will berth at Beypore on May 21 for the inaugural.

The ships will be open to public between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Two helicopters will also be on display.

An exhibition of rescue operation equipment will be organised at 11 a.m. at Beypore and at 5 p.m. at Kozhikode beach, a release said.
