Madikeri: The renovation of temples at Talacauvery, where the Cauvery originates, and Bhagamandala in Kodagu district will be completed in 2007, Minister for Muzrai and Horticulture B. Nagaraja Shetty said on Wednesday. Addressing presspersons here after attending the "punarpratishtapana puja" at Talacauvery, Mr. Shetty said Rs. 12.50 crore would be spent on renovations through the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam. The "punarpratishtapana" of Sri Agasteshwara and Mahaganapathi temples, which started on May 14, would conclude on May 20, he added. The Minister said that steps to improve facilities for pilgrims at Talacauvery and Bhagamandala would be taken shortly. A sum of Rs. 30 lakh had been released by the Horticulture Depatment and Rs. 40 lakh by the Department of Tourism to develop Raja Seat, a tourist spot in Madikeri, and work would start soon, he added. Mr. Shetty said Rs. 2 crore had been released to Kodagu district under the National Horticulture Mission. Work on projects which would be implemented at a cost of Rs. 55 lakh had started, he said.
