THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Working chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Poonthura Siraj has said that the party would intensify its efforts to release Abdul Nasir Maudany from jail. He was speaking at a press conference in the capital city on Wednesday. Mr. Siraj said that Mr. Maudany had been denied justice, medical treatment and even the basic human rights for the last eight years. The `historic' win of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) has established the pre-eminence of Mr. Maudany, Mr. Siraj said. The LDF victory has made it clear that none could stop Mr. Maudany from being released. Mr. Siraj added that the PDP had contributed significantly to the victory of the LDF in the Assembly elections and the PDP would organise various programmes to strengthen the party at the booth and ward-level. Mr. Siraj alleged that the statements of the general secretary of the Indian Union Muslim League showed that the party was not willing to rectify its mistakes. A meeting to evaluate the role-played by the PDP in the elections and the measures required to strengthen the party would be held in the city on Thursday.
