Life School camp concludes

RIDING A WAVE OF HOPE: A scene from the Life School 2006 camp organised by World Vision India for children of the tsunami-hit Alapad panchayat.

KOLLAM: Life School 2006, a camp organised by World Vision India to build up confidence among the children of the tsunami hit at Alapad grama panchayat in Kollam district, concluded on Wednesday. A statement from World Vision India said that the camp was also organised at Arattupuzha panchayat in Alappuzha district.

The camp was held in four sessions during April and May. More than 4,000 students attended the camp. Stories, general knowledge, maths, drama and life story of great men were told and taught to the children who attending the camp. The participants, who were divided into four groups, were taught the importance of sympathy and love, and the need to work for peace.

Filmmaker Mathew Paul inaugurated the valedictory function of the camp. State coordinator of Life School Abraham Kurien delivered the keynote address. Alapad grama panchayat president G. Rajadas delivered the valedictory message. Nayana Vineeth, 15, who was selected presided.
