NALGONDA: The Suryapet police could lay their hands on a gang of pseudo naxalites, which had looted two chit fund companies and a finance company in Nizmabad and Nalgonda towns recently. According to highly placed sources, the police nabbed three members of the four-member gang on Wednesday morning on the charge of attempting to loot a micro finance company in the town on Monday night. Surprisingly, the foursome spent the previous night with the employees of the company waiting for the arrival of their area manager. Three revolvers were recovered from their possession, according to reliable sources.
At large
While two persons hail from Karimnagar, the other two are from Adilabad and Anantapur districts. One pseudo naxalite of Sirisilla could give a slip to the police and a search is on to nab him. The foursome with criminal antecedents had befriended in a prison and chalked out a plan to make money in the guise of naxalites. It may be recalled that the gang created terror in the hearts of chit funds companies and finance companies in Nizambad and Nalgonda districts with its looting spree. It is believed that some of the victims had not approached the police fearing a backlash from the gang. The gang looted a chit funds company in the heart of Nizmabad district on May 2 and decamped with some Rs.5 lakhs. In a daring act, the gang looted Satya Durga Chit Funds, situated only 100 metres away from the II town police station in Nalgonda. They took away Rs.2.4 lakhs from the cash counter and asked the directors to be ready with another Rs.7.6 lakhs to hand over to their man soon. The gang looted Mahindra Finance company in Nizamabad town on May 5 sending shock waves among the owners of chit fund and finance companies.
Single gang
Going by the modus operandi of the gang and the timing of the offence (7.30 p.m.), the investigators could come to a definite conclusion that a single gang was behind all the three lootings. The directors of Satya Durga visited Nizambad to help the investigating officers.
