Karimnagar
Staff Reporter
KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar agricultural market committee chairman Y Sunil Rao has said that the Karimnagar marketyard will be developed at a cost of Rs. 3.64 crores in 18 months to provide better amenities to the farmers visiting the yard. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the NABARD had sanctioned Rs. 3.64-crore loan which includes 50 per cent as subsidy for the betterment of the Marketyard. The 30-acre market yard would be developed by providing more godowns, platforms, cc-surface, guest house for the farmers, new office building, generator facilities, etc. Work would begin in July and completed in the next 18 months. Besides, the market committee had also released Rs. 65 lakhs from the general budget for the development of sub-yards in Manakondur and Bejjanki mandals and set up permanent procurement centres. Thanking the state government for announcing the levy quota of 90,000 metric tones of paddy to Karimnagar district, he hoped that the paddy procurement would increase further with the rice millers and traders coming forward following the announcement of levy quota.
Traders warned
He warned traders and rice millers of stern action if they failed to provide minimum support price of Rs 600 for `A' grade paddy and Rs 570 for `B' grade paddy in the market yards to the farmers. He also urged the farmers to follow minimum guidelines for securing MSP for their hard-earned paddy produce by getting them to market after thoroughly cleaning them.
