CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has decided to invest Rs. 776 crores on development of infrastructure in Gurgaon in the next three years and undertake four other major projects involving an investment of about Rs. 85 crores. These include remodelling of Gurgaon Water Supply Channel, construction of a multipurpose hall-cum-indoor stadium at Gurgaon, flyover on the railway crossing on the approach road to Sri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Complex, and construction of wide external roads in Sonepat, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced here on Wednesday after presiding over a meeting of HUDA. Mr. Hooda appreciated the action plan formulated by the HUDA for external development works in Gurgaon and its pro-people policies aimed at improving the quality of life of the people. HUDA has also decided to develop a `Golden Triangle' at the City Centre in Sector 29 of Gurgaon in a `magnificent manner in view of the changing scenario of this town which has emerged as an IT hub of northern India.' Mr. Hooda also witnessed presentations by two prominent companies suggesting planning, designing and landscaping of the Golden Triangle and approved the concept of Fairwood-ECADI. The Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary for Town and Country Planning, Shakuntala Jakhu, disclosed that Rs. 776 crores would be spent in a phased manner by March 2009. Providing top class infrastructure in the global city was a priority, she added. These works would include construction of new roads, improvement of existing roads to decongest traffic, provision of adequate water supply, proper sewage system including treatment facilities, provision of storm water drainage, fire fighting equipment, street lights along master roads and development of urban forests. The existing Extension Policy of HUDA was also reviewed and it was decided to extend it by at least one year up to December 31, 2006. However, the same would be revised to include a provision to make the plot holders complete constructions within a specific period otherwise their plots would be taken back. It was also decided to set up a memorial to the late Agriculture Minister Surinder Singh at Town Park in the City Centre of Bhiwani.
