HYDERABAD: The Government on Wednesday initiated the process to form a trust board for the Chilkur Balaji temple near here by appointing Gunnala Narasimha Reddy and five other family members of the original donor, Gunnala Madhava Reddy, as members. However, only one of them will be a member of the trust at a time. The trust will have five members, one of them from this family. As such, the six descendants of the Gunnala Madhava Reddy family will enjoy the membership by rotation, each for a specific period. The membership to the family is made lifelong. Arrangements have been made to administer oath to these members at the temple on Thursday. However, Prof M. V. Sounder Rajan, archaka of the temple leading an agitation, said the vacation judge of the district has stayed the appointments. A member from the Gunnala family will be designated as "founder-trustee". The existing rules provide for the founder-member trustee automatically becoming the trust chairperson. In all, 539 persons have responded to the notification issued by the assistant commissioner, Endowments, Ranga Reddy district, calling for applications for appointment of the rest of the four members. Endowments Commissioner A. B. Krishna Reddy told The Hindu that the names would be finalised and full trust constituted shortly.
