Two killed in accidents

Two persons died in separate road accidents in the city on Tuesday.

A pedestrian died after he was hit by a speeding lorry at Anandbagh crossroads. According to the police, S. M. Ramakrishna, 28, a resident of Vimala Devi Nagar in Malkajgiri, was crossing the road when the lorry came from rear and hit him.

In another incident, rash driving by a motorcyclist claimed the life of a man at Chilkalguda crossroads in Secunderabad. The victim, Hussain Appa, 50, of Hamalbasthi at Padmarao Nagar was also crossing the road.

Two held on theft charge

The city police on Wednesday arrested two persons, including a woman for allegedly committing a house burglary at Padmarao Nagar.

Chilkalguda Inspector G. P. Vinod Kumar said the house owner Mohib, his family, went to their relative's house on April 9 by giving the keys to their domestic help K Jyothi. But she handed gave the keys to her brother Sekhar who later entered Mohib's house and stole gold, silver ornaments and other household articles, all worth over Rs 3.5 lakh besides a motorcycle and went to his native village in Nalgonda district. "We nabbed Sekhar based on a tip-off given by his friends. Jyothi was also arrested," the Inspector said.

Senior auditor held

ACB officials here on Wednesday arrested a senior auditor of the Co-operative department, S.K. Muzaffar Ahmed, here at Begumpet, on charge of receiving Rs. 600 bribe. The accused was in charge of DPL Centre-115 at Patigadda.

RI for ex-SI

A special court here had sentenced a former sub-inspector of Maheswaram police station, Ranga Reddy district, J. Venkateshwar Rao, to undergo two-year rigorous imprisonment following his conviction in a corruption case.

Dismissed

The Government had dismissed from service former line inspector, Krishna, of APTransco of Sainikpuri in Ranga Reddy district. He is guilty of corruption charges.
