`Countdown board' for water project

KOCHI: Singer K.J. Jesudas will install the countdown notice board for the completion of the HUDCO drinking water project at High Court Junction on Friday at 4 p.m., said a press release issued by the Visala Kochi Kudivella Samrakshana Samiti on Wednesday.

Former Supreme Court judge V.R. Krishna Iyer will be the chief guest on the occasion. The Kerala High Court, in a public interest litigation filed by the Samiti, ordered the State Government on February 20, to complete the project in six months. The countdown board is being put up in the light of little progress towards the completion of the project.

The Samiti will take up protest measures like hunger strike on the completion of the deadline, said T.E. Thomas, general secretary of the Samiti.
