Thiruvananthapuram: Elaborate arrangements have been made for the swearing-in ceremony of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Ministry headed by V.S. Achuthanandan at 4 p.m. at the Central Stadium in the capital city on Thursday. A 60 ft by 30 ft podium has been set up at the stadium. It is being held outside Raj Bhavan for the first time. The entry to the stadium from the gate located near the Secretariat has been restricted to Governor R.L. Bhatia, Chief Minister-designate, Ministers-designate and former Ministers. The legislators, MPs, other leaders and invitees will have to enter the stadium through the gates opposite the Secretariat Annexe and through the gate near the SMSM Institute, according to a release from the City Police Commissioner. Only close relatives of the legislators will be allowed entry into the VIP gallery being set up at the stadium. Others accompanying the legislators should enter the stadium through the gate opposite the Press Club. The public can enter the stadium through the three gates situated in front of the Press Club. Except umbrellas and water bottles, the public will not be allowed to carry anything into the stadium. Movement of vehicles and parking around the stadium has been banned. Parking arrangements have been made for the vehicles in which the legislators arrive. The vehicles have to be parked at National Club, Muthoot Plaza, University Campus, Senate Hall and Quarters road behind Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium. Those coming in medium vehicles along the National Highway and M. C. Road for the swearing-in should park their vehicles on Manaveeyam road, Sooryakanthi auditorium road, Kanaka Nagar road and Nandavanam-Museum road. Buses bringing in the public and party workers should alight them on the VJT Hall and University Canteen premises and proceed via Asan Square, General Hospital junction to Chaka. The buses should be parked on one side of the NH bypass road, the Commissioner said. The vehicles coming from the Nedumangad and Kattakkada areas should proceed via Vellayambalam, Vazhuthacaud, Xanadu, Rest House junction, Panavila and alight the passengers at Housing Board junction. The vehicles should later proceed via RMS junction, Thampanoor to Killipalam and should park on one side of the Bund road. Vehicles from the Neyyattinkara and Vizhinjam areas should proceed via East Fort, Overbridge, Thampanoor to Housing Board junction. After alighting the passengers at Housing Board junction, the vehicles should proceed to Killipalam bund road for parking. The Commissioner has urged the public to cooperate with the police officials to avoid traffic snarls.
