Passport staff on strike

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Members of the All India Passport Employees' Association are these days holding a "productive agitation" in support of their charter of demands that include among other things implementation of the signed agreements pertaining to completion of cadre review, transparency in transfer matter and regularisation of services of casual workers.

As part of the agitation, which commenced on Monday, the Association has been holding lunch-time demonstrations and all its members have been wearing black ribbons to work. While this style of protest will continue up to Friday, on Saturday the Association would be "working'' in protest and in case the members are not allowed entry into the offices, the would sit on a dharna and hold a peaceful demonstration. The Association president, Mahesh Mishra, and general secretary A.P. Rastogi said in case the agitation fails to draw the attention of the authorities then a token strike would be observed on May 26.
