Steps urged to ease traffic congestion

Pondicherry: The Pondicherry based Vanchinathan Mandram has called upon the Traffic wing of Pondicherry police to take steps to direct the cargo vehicle owners parking the heavy vehicles with construction materials at the busy thoroughfare at Ellaipillaichavady away from the spot.

Mr P. Balagangadharan the president of the Mandram said in a release here on Thursday that the executive committee of the organisation adopted a resolution at its meeting here recently highlighting the current hardships school children and office goers were facing because of the parking of heavy vehicles. Alternative site should be allotted to the vehicle owners away from Ellaipillaichavady, the resolution said.

The meeting also wanted steps by the Oulgaret Municipality to remove the garbage and solid wastes now unloaded at the Octroi point in the Elliapillaichavady junction.
