Rajahmundry: Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K. Narayana has said that his party will put its candidate wherever it is strong and alliance fails. He said that they would give top priority for alliance with the Congress and its friendly party -- the CPI(M) -- in forthcoming ZP and other local body elections. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the CPI leader said that they were trying to patch up differences with the CPI(M) with which they had some problems in last Assembly elections. "We go for alliance, but it if fails, we will put up our own candidates, " Dr. Narayana said. He made it clear that they would not go for any alliance with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana region. Replying to a question, the CPI senior leader said that the law and order situation was getting worse day by day. He said that prisons in Charlapalli and Anantapur were becoming guesthouses for some `privileged prisoners' and criminals no more feared police action. The CPI leader also said that the State Government had failed to tackle Gangavaram fishermen issue in the right way. He said that the fishermen would lose livelihood if they were shifted 8 km from the present location. On OBC reservations issue, the CPI leader made his party's stand clear by saying that the creamy layer system should continue and the agitating students in the country should demand for increase of seats in universities and colleges. He sought waiver agriculture loan arrears of farmers amounting to Rs.6,000 crores in the State. CPI district secretary Meesala Satyanarayana, city unit president K. Apparao and others participated in the press conference.
