ANANTAPUR: In a road accident on NH-7 near Kalluru village of Garladinne mandal in the wee hours of Thursday, three persons were burnt alive and one more succumbed to serious injuries at the hospital here. Of the four killed, three belonged to a family.

According to the police, Muralikrishna (41) a software engineer working in Visakhapatnam, his wife Bhavani (35), son Avinash (17) and daughter Taradevi (11) were travelling in a car from Hyderabad to Anantapur when the mishap took place.

The driver of their Tata Indica car, Hari (30) apparently shut his eyelids for a split second to ward off sleep as the vehicle was nearing Kalluru.

He obviously lost control as the car swerved across the road to the right and rammed into a Tata Safari coming in the opposite direction. The Indica's fuel tank hit the ground as the car fell sideways and burst into flames instantly.
