Woman stabbed in Koramangala

BANGALORE: A man stabbed a housewife and attempted to snatch her mobile phone in Koramangala police station limits on Wednesday night.

The police said that around 9.30 p.m., a man stopped Rashmi (23) while she was walking towards her car from a medical shop near Jyothi Nivas College in 5th Block, Koramangala, and tried to snatch her mobile phone.

When she resisted his attempt, he stabbed Rashmi in the abdomen with a knife and escaped on a motorcycle on which his accomplice was waiting at a distance. An injured Rashmi, a resident of 14th Cross, 2nd Stage, Indiranagar, has been admitted to a hospital. On a complaint by her husband Amruth Sharma, the Koramangala police have registered a case.

Killed in accident

A motorcycle rider was killed after a private bus hit his vehicle on Tumkur Road around 8.45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The police gave the name of the dead as Sajju (38), an electrical engineer and a resident of T. Dasarahalli. He was a native of Kerala. The Peenya traffic police have seized the bus and registered a case.

Buffaloes killed

Four buffaloes were killed when a stone-laden lorry ran amuck on Mahadevapura Ring Road on Thursday.

The police said that around 12.30 p.m. following a brake failure, the lorry hit the animals near Marathalli junction. After the accident, the driver abandoned the vehicle and ran away. The Mahadevapura police have seized the lorry and registered a case.

Arrested

The MICO Layout police have arrested four persons on charges of hacking to death a realtor, Ignatius Rajesh of Begur, at Vijaya Bank Colony on Bannerghatta Road on May 6.

The police said the investigation revealed that another realtor Narayanaswamy had allegedly hired the accused to murder Rajesh with whom he had a dispute over a piece of land.

The names of the arrested were given as K. Mohan, Vijay Kumar, Venkataswamy and J. Tirupathi.

The police have seized swor ds, choppers and a multi-utility vehicle from the arrested.
