IOB launches sale of gold coins
TIRUCHI:
Indian Overseas Bank, Tiruchi Region, launched its sale of imported gold coins through its branches in the region on Friday. Inaugurating the sales, Chief Regional Manager, R. Chandran, said the gold coins, imported from Switzerland, were of `999.9 purity.' At present, coins weighing eight gm, 20 gm, and 50 gm, were available for sale. In future, coins weighing 100 gm would be sold. The Chief Manager, Main Branch, V. Raghavan, said the sale had evoked an overwhelming response. A total of 400 coins were sold on the first day fetching about Rs. 58 lakhs including sales tax. There was a huge demand for coins weighing eight grams. Three hundreds coins weighing eight grams each, 70 coins weighing 20 gm each and 30 coins weighing 50 gm each were sold on Friday, he added.
