Pondicherry: A delegation of the newly elected legislators of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) called on Lt Governor M.M. Lakhera at Raj Nivas here on Friday. The legislators who met were A.M.H. Nazeem (DMK legislature party leader), Dr M.A.S. Subramanian, R. Rajaram and Nandha T. Saravanan. (Other three legislators of the party V.M.C Sivakumar, R Siva and S.P. Sivakumar were conspicuous by their absence). The convenor of Pondicherry State unit of the DMK, R.V. Janakiraman, (who was defeated in the recent polls by the AIADMK nominee Om Sakthi Segar in Nellithope constituency) headed the team to meet the Lt Governor and later told waiting newsmen that it was only a courtesy call and bore no political or other significance. He said that the party had already informed the Assembly Secretariat of the appointment of the party's office bearers for the legislature wing. The DMK annexed seven out of 11 constituencies it contested as part of the Democratic Progressive Alliance headed by the Congress in the recent elections. The Congress having ten member on its side was forming a minority government here with the outside and unconditional support of the 7 member strong DMK, the two member Pattali Makkal Katchi and the lone member of the Communist Party of India. Only the Chief Minister had been sworn in now, as the names of other members of the six-member minority government of the Congress has not yet been finalised.
