1,000 bikers to vie for title

BRAND AMBASSADOR: John Abraham, who has almost become synonymous with motorbikes

NEW DELHI: Passionate and skilled bikers from across the country will compete with each other at the Bajri grounds here this coming Sunday during the Delhi leg of the Castrol Power 1 Throttle Max event. Being held in eight cities, the event will test the skill and control of Indian bikers and send the champion in each category to the Valencia Moto GP in Spain for interacting with the Gresini Honda team.

The event, which seeks to find and crown the most skilful Indian rider, will culminate with the finals in Jaipur on June 18. Noted film star John Abraham, who has almost become synonymous with motorbikes following the runaway success of his much talked about film "Dhoom", has endorsed the event as the brand ambassador of the organising company.

The event, John says, "is what every biker is going to want to be a part of''. An ardent biker himself, John holds that "this event will have every biker test his mettle and it is not just about speed but control. The test track is going to give two winning bikers that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch the Moto GP in Spain. I am certain that hardcore bikers are not going to miss this exciting chance.''

Nearly 1,000 riders are expected to participate in this exciting event across the country.

The participants have to complete three stages on a dirt track -- an open straight stretch, an obstacle course and a wiggle-woggle section -- and the winner will be chosen based on a point system. The competition will be held in two categories: Indian-made four-stroke stock bikes up to 125 cc and Indian-made four-stroke bikes of 126 cc to 250 cc.
