THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: S.R. Jai Durga of Tamil Nadu surprised Aparna Bhatt (UP) to win the gold in finweight category in the girls section of the 26th National junior taekwondo championships at the Jimmy George indoor stadium on Friday. After a slow start, Jai Durga became the aggressor in the second and third round and landed some neat kicks on her rival. She took the lead and adopted a kick-and-run strategy to preserve her lead and won 5-4 much. The results (all finals): Boys: Light-middle (between 63kg-68kg): Umesh Tamang (Sikkim) bt V. Lalawmpuia (Mizoram) 4-2. Girls: Finweight (below 42 kg): S.R. Jai Durga (TN) bt Aparna Bhatt (UP) 5-4. Featherweight (between 46-49kg): Jayati Pathak (Haryana) bt S. Surbala Chanu (Manipur) 6-2.
