NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit along with her Finance Minister A.K. Walia on Friday visited the relocation camps at Shavda Ghevra in North Delhi where the recently displaced families living in slum clusters along the Yamuna Pushta were relocated. Senior officials and local MLA Bijender Singh accompanied Ms. Dikshit. Taking a round of the camps, Ms. Dikshit issued instructions to all the concerned agencies to intensify their efforts for providing civic amenities in the 260-acre area where these people have been relocated. She also directed the agencies to provide plots to the relocated people as per the existing policy. The demarcation of plots, levelling of ground, construction of lanes and roads and fixing of poles has started and is gathering momentum. Ms. Dikshit said all the families should be adjusted at the new site before the onset of the monsoon. She also promised to re-visit the relocation site to review the arrangements during the next few days. The Chief Minister further directed the concerned agencies to ensure all arrangements by speeding up formalities. The Delhi Jal Board has been instructed to provide tankers for supplying drinking water to start with.
