CHENNAI: An `Education & Career Expo' has been organised at Valluvar Kottam from Friday to Sunday to target students who have just finished Plus-Two. More than 60 stalls have been set up by engineering, medical and paramedical, arts and science colleges, placement firms and financial institutions. Courses ranging from diplomas in hotel management to various software specialisations to studying medicine in Russia were explained to some 5000 students who visited the fair on Friday. Some organisations like Stetter India, the Indian subsidiary of the German concrete mixing plant manufacturers, were looking for job aspirants. Organised by Prompt Publication, the exhibition aims at giving a broad view of educational and career opportunities available within the State and abroad. Institutions would be conducting seminars at the location during the evenings to inform participants of available courses and concessions and future employment opportunities.
Some nationalised banks and other financial institutions are participating in the event with a few offering spot sanctioning of educational loans for those seeking to pursue higher studies. The fair has been timed with the conclusion of the entrance exams to provide a one-stop solution for those who want to plan for their higher studies, said the organisers in a statement. The exhibition would be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
