Bangalore: It may not be a long wait for those rushing to pay their property tax before the May 31 deadline. Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner K. Jairaj, who paid a surprise visit to the customer service centre on Queen's Road on Friday, found the line of waiting people rather long. After talking to the waiting taxpayers, he asked the revenue officers to immediately set up another counter to clear the rush. He also listened to the officers and the public and agreed that payment of tax should be made easy. Later, he, Joint Commissioner-East Jayaram and Technical Advisor Jayaprasad, inspected the railway underbridge near Cantonment Railway Station where a second vent is being opened for smooth flow of traffic. He said the work should be completed early.
Attacked
When health officers of the BMP went to Chamarajpet 3rd Cross to clear the footpaths of vendors of eatables, they were attacked by a vendor, identified as Ramachandra, and six others. The health officer, Abdul Waheed Khan, who was injured, has registered a complaint with the Chamarajpet police.
