dated May 22, 1956: Sihanouk in Delhi

"Neutral Cambodia's neutrality is now better appreciated and accepted by all the countries of the world," Prince Sihanouk of Cambodia, who arrived in New Delhi on May 21, told pressmen at the airport. The Prince halted in Delhi for a few hours before resuming his journey to France, Spain, the Soviet Union, Poland and Czechoslovakia. While in Delhi, the Prince said, he would discuss with Prime Minister Nehru the "situation in our two countries" although he had no particular problem at the moment to discuss. "I am very glad to be here and to have another opportunity of meeting Mr. Nehru whom I admire very much, and who is my greatest friend". Prince Sihanouk was welcomed at the airport by Mr. Nehru, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Mr. V.K. Krishna Menon, and Mr. N.R. Pillai, Secretary-General, External Affairs Ministry.
