KOCHI: It is usually the grateful winner who sends a thank-you note to the voters after an election. But Democratic Indira Congress(Karunakaran) (DIC-K) leader T.M. Jacob is not deterred by his defeat in Piravom, once considered his citadel, from expressing gratitude to his voters. The former topmost leader of Kerala Congress(Jacob) took the loss in his stride and put up a thank-you advertisement in the local newspapers. His logic: "Though technically I am not the winner, I am obliged to you (voters) for blessing me with 47,753 votes." He notes that of the total 1,07,894 votes polled in Piravom, 47,753 had been in his name. He views this as a mark of people's faith in him and the United Democratic Front. "I consider this as a recognition of the good deeds I have done for the Piravom constituency." "I will always be with you as one amongst you," he promises to the Piravom people in the ad.
