Rajiv Gandhi remembered

Chief Minister Rangasamy and others pay glowing tributes

HOMAGE TO RAJIV: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy administering anti-terrorism pledge to Congress party men and others in Pondicherry on Sunday.

Pondicherry : Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Pradesh Congress Committee president P. Shanmugham, legislators, officials, Freedom fighter Association office-bearers, Seva Dal, students and youth wings of the Congress paid homage to Rajiv Gandhi at Thattanchavady junction on the occasion of the leader's 15th death anniversary on Sunday.

Students of Jawahar Bal Bhavan presented patriotic songs and representatives of Hindu, Islamic and Christian organisation read out excerpts from the holy books.

Later, Mr. Rangasamy administered an anti-terrorism pledge.

Pondicherry State Youth Congress Committee president K. Pandian distributed food packets to about 1000 people on the occasion.

Congress volunteers paid homage to Rajiv Gandhi at the party office. Mr. Shanmugham recalled the services the late Prime Minister had rendered for the development of the country.

Service to society

The principles of harmony, unity and service to the society were highlighted by the representatives of the three religions who read out the excerpts from their respective religious books at the party office. Puducherry Munnetra Congress legislator N.Anandh led a team of party volunteers in the Bussy constituency (from where he was elected to the Territorial Assembly at the recent elections) to pay homage.

The party's general secretary P. K. Devadoss paid glowing tributes to the yeomen services rendered by Rajiv Gandhi.
