CHENNAI: Candidates who have appeared for the Senior Secondary School Examination (SSSE) this year should apply for registration for the professional education course I (PE-I) conducted by the Institute of Charted Accountants of India (ICAI) before June 30. The registered candidates will be eligible to appear for the examination to be held in May 2007. According to a release issued by the ICAI here on Saturday, the PE-I is the "gateway" for the professional course of Charted Accountancy immediately after completion of the SSSE or equivalent.
Satisfactory proof
Though registration for the course is open throughout the year with a tuition fee of Rs.3,000 per candidate, provisional registration will be confirmed only after satisfactory proof of having passed the examination is furnished within a period of six months. Candidates can appear for the examination after ten months from the date of registration and on satisfactory compliance with the requirements of the postal tuition scheme. There is also a facility of optional enrolment in coaching classes organised by 250 institutions in different parts of the country.
